Behaviour services

Nose to the ground focuses primarily on canine behaviour.

I am a behavioural practitioner based in Knaresborough and the local area. I have a level 4 diploma in advanced canine behaviour and I am currently working through my level 5 canine behaviour diploma. I have over 9 years experience working with dogs including 1.5 years working in a rescue environment caring for behaviourally challenged dogs.

I like to work primarily 1:1 with yourselves and your dog.

To begin with I will come and meet you and your dog in a calm environment to discuss whats going on and see the behaviour in action (providing that it is safe to do so). This is where I can gather a bit more information about your dog and their history to try and piece together the origin of the problematic behaviour.

Once I have gathered all the information I need, we will start work straight away. I like to arrange to meet up weekly to get the process kickstarted. We will be working through some training and behavioural modification techniques tailored to your dog and their behaviour. I will be giving some optional homework each week that I would like you to work on with your dog at home. You do not have to do this homework however without it you may not see a lot of improvement very quickly.

When booking a behaviour service, you must be willing to put in the effort and hard work to achieve the results you are wanting. You will be doing the majority of the work with your dog, I will just be here to teach you as the owner and guide you throughout the process.

1:1 Training walks: I now offer a separate service in which i will take your dog out on my own and do some 1:1 training and behaviour work with them without you present. This can be beneficial if you are unable to do the training due to health, physical capability, time restrictions.

I can keep up with the training we are doing together helping you with the optional 'homework' or i can take on all the training myself with your dog - please note training 1:1 may take longer to see the results as i will only spend a small amount of time with them each week, you may also not see the same results as i do without doing the work too. I will send written reports with what I've done and come up with an optional plan for you to follow in your own time. Along with this i am always available to answer any questions or concerns.
